Steering system allows the driver to turn the vehicle in any direction while on move. It is a controlling system of your Honda. Two types of steering system include manual and power steering systems. In manual steering system, the only source of energy is the force applied by the driver. In power steering system, hydraulic pump is used to assist the effort of the driver to control the movement of the vehicle. Modern vehicles, especially heavy vehicles, have power steering systems to control the vehicle easily. The fundamental operation of both manual and power steering system is the same. As the steering wheel is turned by the driver, the movement is carried to the steering shaft, which converts the rotational motion into linear motion. Then the linear motion is transmitted to the tie rods which are connected to the steering arm of the wheel. Thus, the tie rods which is connected to the wheels, pull or push the wheels in either direction as desired by the driver. Both manual and power steering uses the rack and pinion steering gears. In power steering system, the design of the rack differs from the manual steering rack. Part of the rack has a cylinder, is where the hydraulic fluid is passed. The pump transfers the high pressure fluid, when the driver turns the steering wheel and hits the piston to move the rack. All the parts in steering system should be in perfect condition as all the parts are interlinked with each other. If you find any malfunctioning of the steering system, you should go for the replacement option.
