Your Toyota car steering parts should be checked at regular intervals to maintain the car's stability. Car steering parts include steering rack, steering gearbox, rack and pinion steering etc. Most of the modern cars have the power steering mechanism to minimize the effort given by the driver. The power steering gear box is attached to the engine chassis. In both the cases of power and manual steering, the gear box uses the clutch to regulate the transfer of torque from an engine to the transmission. Rack and pinion helps in the smooth movement of your car wheels. Rack is nothing but a metal tube having tie rod at the both ends and the pinion is attached with the steering shaft. According to the steering movement, the pinion moves the rack and helps to turn car wheels immediately. If you turn the steering wheel, the force is passed to the rack. The steering rack converts the rotational motion into linear motion and moves your car wheels forward. But in power steering system, this process is different. The piston is connected to the rack. There are two fluid ports located at either side of the piston. The steering pump is connected with the steering wheel. So, when you turn the steering wheel, the pump passes the high pressure fluid to hit the piston and moves the rack, providing the power assist.
